Director of Faith-Based Initiatives for the State of TN to Speak to Area Pastors

[:en]Dr. Monty Burks, Director of Faith-based Initiatives for the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, is speaking to area pastors and lay ministers at 9am on May 20th. ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS OFFER THEIR EXPERTISE TO ADULT & TEEN CHALLENGE MIDSOUTH

Seven mental health specialists will work to support staff and guide program advances. Six mental health specialists have formed an Advisory Council to offer their professional services and insights to the leadership of Adult & Teen Challenge MidSouth (ATCM). Formation of the Council comes out of a new strategic planning process from which the need to provide ongoing training and support for staff counselors rose to the top.

Residential Recovery Program has 48 Open Beds for Addicted Men and Women

Chattanooga, TN. April 31, 2021 – While many nonprofits across the U.S. scaled back their services to allow for distancing and/or isolation, Adult & Teen Challenge MidSouth (ATCM), a faith-based residential recovery program for men and women 18-50, continued services throughout 2020. The result is a number of these residents recently completed one or more tier of the program, opening up space for 33 men and 15 women in need of residential recovery counseling.

Anthony’s Story

My name is Anthony, and I am a life that was changed. I grew up in a Christian home and went to church every Sunday and Wednesday for as long as I can remember. However, when I turned sixteen, I found myself with more freedom and made choices that did not reflect my upbringing. My attendance at church decreased as my participation in the things of the world increased. By the time I graduated high school I had already developed a gripping and life altering drug addiction that destroyed any hope for a promising future.

Chattanooga’s Florence Crittenton Home for Women

When you visit Adult & Teen Challenge MidSouth (ATCM) at 1108 W. 33rd Street, you’re greeted by a stately old home at the front of the property with many stories to tell. This home is one of five that served as a respite for young women every year beginning in the late 1890’s until it was sold to ATCM in 1987, and it is one of 73 Florence Crittenton Homes across the U.S.
